About the author

Ren Cale writes speculative fiction that lives somewhere between myth, bureaucracy, and survival. His work blends dark fantasy, science fiction, and slow-burn character drama with systems that feel disturbingly believable — celestial debt ledgers, consciousness backups, illegal body markets, and institutions that quietly decide who gets to remain human.

A lifelong tabletop RPG player and worldbuilding obsessive, Ren is drawn to stories where power always comes with a cost, where identity is unstable, and where ordinary people are forced into impossible systems they never asked to inherit. His novels are known for layered lore, morally complicated characters, and emotional tension that builds beneath sharp dialogue and dangerous choices.

When he isn't writing, Ren can usually be found outlining campaigns he may never run, reorganizing notebooks full of lore, or convincing himself he absolutely does not need another set of dice.
